Once you have narrowed down the contractors over the phone, ask to see pictures of some of their work and ask for customer references. It is important to see the quality of their work before they tear into your house. If you are not happy with what you see in their pictures, don’t hire them. Chances are they won’t do any better on your home.

Don’t hesitate to call on their customers and feel them out about the contractor and their crew. Find out how their experience was with the contractor, ask if they were satisfied with the work they did and find out how well their windows are working for them. If the contractor did a lousy job, you will get an earful and you can mark that contractor off your list.
